Bible Verses for Fear and Anxiety
"Fear not" appears throughout scripture — not as a command to simply stop feeling afraid, but as a reminder of who is present with you.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Fear isn't named as a gift from God — power, love and a sound mind are.
Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Notice how much is packed into one verse — presence, strength, help, and support.
Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
A question, not a command — inviting you to reason your way through the fear.
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Fear and love described as opposing forces — one displaces the other.
Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Spoken to Joshua before an enormous task — courage tied directly to presence, not confidence.
