Getting Started: Onboarding
The first few questions North Star asks you, and why — so we can shape the app around your walk with God.
What this screen is for
The very first time you open North Star, we ask you a handful of friendly questions. None of it is a test — there are no wrong answers. Your answers help us suggest a starting plan, pick a Bible translation you'll enjoy reading, and set up gentle reminders.
The whole thing takes about a minute.
What you'll be asked
1. Welcome
A short hello from North Star. Tap Get started to begin.
2. Where are you on your faith journey?
Pick the one that feels most like you right now:
- Just exploring — You're new to faith and curious.
- Growing — You're following Jesus and want to go deeper.
- Mature — You have a settled walk and want to keep growing.
- Returning — You've stepped away and want to come back.
There's no judgement here. You can change this any time in your profile.
3. What would you like to grow in?
Tick anything that interests you (you can pick more than one):
- Prayer life
- Daily Bible reading
- Journaling
- Studying Scripture
- Discipleship — walking with others in faith
4. How much time do you usually have each day?
Be honest — we'll match plans to your time, not the other way around:
- 5 minutes
- 10–15 minutes
- 20–30 minutes
- 30+ minutes
5. Which Bible translation do you prefer?
If you don't have a favourite, NIV is a safe place to start.
- NIV — Easy to read, modern English
- ESV — Balanced, widely used in study
- KJV — Classic, poetic, traditional
- NLT — Plain, conversational English
You can switch translations later in any Bible passage.
6. Your personalised recommendation
North Star takes your answers and suggests a plan to start with. Tap Use this plan to accept, or Choose my own to browse all plans yourself.
7. Daily reminders
Last step. We can send you a gentle nudge each day so reading stays a habit. You can:
- Turn reminders on — pick a time of day that suits you
- Skip for now — and turn them on later in your profile
That's it. Tap Finish and you'll land on your home screen.
Common questions
Q: Can I change my answers later? Yes — every answer here is editable on your profile screen.
Q: Do I have to share all this? Only a faith stage and a daily time are required (so we can recommend a plan). You can skip everything else.
Q: Will my answers be shared with anyone? No. They're used to personalise your experience inside North Star and nothing else.
Q: I closed the app halfway — do I have to start over? No. North Star remembers where you got to and picks up at the next step.
