Reading a Passage
Open any passage in a clean reader — text, audio narration, font controls, and the same verse-action bar as the main Bible tab.
What this screen is for
The Bible Reader is the main tab; this is the dedicated passage reader you land on when you open a single passage — from a devotional, a search result, a notification, or a tap on a verse reference anywhere in the app.
It's the same text, with a couple of extras built for focused reading.
What's on the screen
The passage header
The book, chapter, and verse range at the top. Tap it to jump back to the main Bible tab if you want to read more around it.
Audio narration
Tap the headphones / play button to have the passage read aloud. Audio uses KJV by default (the most universally supported translation for audio). Controls:
- Play / pause
- Time elapsed and total time
- Scrub — drag along the bar to skip forward or back
Reading font
The Aa icon switches between Editorial (Playfair italic) and Clear (sans). Whichever you pick is remembered across the app.
Verse actions
Tap a verse to bring up the same action bar as the main Bible tab — Play, Highlight, Note, Copy, Share, Image.
Common questions
Q: Why is the audio a different translation from the text? Bible Brain (the audio provider) has the widest, highest-quality coverage in KJV and ESV. We default audio to KJV so it works on every passage — even when the text you're reading is NIV.
Q: Can I download passages? Once you've opened a passage, it's cached on your device and works offline.
Q: Can I change translation here? Yes — open the main Bible tab to switch translation, then come back. The passage reader follows the same setting.
