Journal
A private place to write your thoughts. Optionally, talk it through with North Star and read back over your history.
What this screen is for
The Journal tab is somewhere quiet to write — about your day, what you're praying through, things you noticed in scripture, or whatever's on your heart.
It has three modes across the top:
- Write — just write. Nothing else.
- Let's Talk — write, and North Star will reflect on what you wrote, in scripture's voice.
- History — look back at every journal entry you've made.
Write mode
The default. Tap into the text area and type whatever you want — short or long. There's no spell-check pressure, no audience, no formatting buttons. Just space.
Entries save automatically. You can leave any time and come back later.
Let's Talk mode
This is Write mode + a thoughtful response from North Star. After you finish writing, the AI reads what you wrote and replies — gently, attentively, often surprising you with what it picks up on.
Example: you write "thanking the Lord for the vision and strength to see this through," and North Star might gently push back — "I notice you've framed this as thanksgiving for completion, but the work isn't finished, is it?" — and walk through that with scripture.
The response appears in a card labelled ✦ NORTH STAR in gold.
Let's Talk isn't a chatbot — you write your entry, then read its reflection. It's slower and more meditative than the Ask tab on purpose.
When to use Let's Talk
- After a hard day, to get perspective
- When you're stuck on a passage
- For decisions you're sitting with
- When you want to be challenged, not just heard
History mode
A scrollable list of every entry you've made, newest first. Tap an entry to reopen it and read the full text (and the AI reflection, if there was one).
You can:
- Search your history with the search bar
- Delete an entry by long-pressing it
- Pin an entry to keep it at the top
Common questions
Q: Is my journal private? Yes. Journal entries are private to you and never shared.
Q: Can I export my journal? Yes — open any entry and tap Share to export it. Bulk export is on the way.
Q: Will I lose entries if I uninstall? Your entries are synced to your account, so they'll come back when you sign in on a new device. Sign in is essential here.
Q: How is "Let's Talk" different from "Ask"? Ask is conversational Q&A. Let's Talk is more reflective — you pour out a thought first, then read a scripture-grounded reflection on it.
Q: Can I turn off the AI reflections? Yes — stick to Write mode and you'll never see one. Or turn auto-reflections off in Profile.
